Today, we are covering why you should definitely hire a wedding videographer for your special day, and what to budget in to get the filmmaker that is right for you..
COST
What is the average cost for a real wedding videographer in Sedona to come in and capture these moments? Our rates start at $1,999 for a small elopement Style (1 hour shoot) wedding that comes with a highlight video with your choice of music. More time, cameras, sound and video length will increase that price depending on what you want. Our largest package tops out at $9,999 for a feature length film approx 90 mins.
SAVE MONEY / HIRE YOUR COUSIN
I have heard potential clients talk about having one of their relatives or friends come out and shoot their wedding for little to no money because they want to get into the wedding or filmmaking world. My response is always the same “You get what you pay for.” Every once in a while, a couple will actually have a really good film student or newbie come in and shoot a decent film. If you are willing to take that risk, so be it.
JUSTIFY THE COST
One of my good friends watches her wedding video with her husband every year on their anniversary. They make popcorn and post pictures on Facebook talking about what an amazing experience they had and how grateful they are to have a video documenting the best day of their lives. If you are married for 50 years and watch your video just once a year on your anniversary the cost break down would be less than taking your partner out to a night at the movies. When clients reach out to me end begin to haggle the price of our services, I have to pause. If you are marrying this person and joining your lives, who wouldn’t want a film that shows off and help everyone remember what a great day it was?
EDITING
One thing that most couples don’t know is that for photographers and wedding videographers, the wedding day AKA the shooting time is the smallest part of our jobs. The most time is spent in the editing phase. If a wedding videographer shoots 1 hour of footage, there can be anywhere from 10 to 20 hours of downloading, transcoding, creating proxies (smaller files), editing, sound work, music, color correction, exporting and uploading these videos. Some of my larger jobs have taken well over 100 hours of just editing time. When you see us at the wedding on that day, know that when we finish and head home, our job has only begun.
TIME
This is also why most wedding videographers and photographers will request six to 8 or even 12 weeks before delivering your final videos and photos. The editing process takes time and with most of us, we want to do the best work possible because we know these videos and photos are going to be around for a very long time.
MOST IMPORTANT
A Wedding videographer in Sedona and a photographer are the most important vendors to lock in for your wedding. Why? They are the direct links to your memories that last a lifetime and longer. The wedding day goes very quickly, but the memories last forever.
VHS vs TODAY
My father bought a VHS video camera in 1980. In the last few years, I have been digitizing all of our old family videos and have been brought to tears more than once. I have also learned so much because I got to re-experience so many great times that have faded over time. Those VHS tapes are gold to helping me and the family remember. My only wish is that we had more of those times recorded. Time flies by so fast. our children become adults overnight and all we have to spark our brains again are pictures and videos that link us back to the most important times in our lives.
A wedding videography service
Should be on top of everyone’s list when they start the wedding planning process. Professional wedding cinematography is worth every penny because it will be the only medium that shows the memories combining sounds with moving pictures to stir up all of the amazing emotions and connections created on that day. When you may forget some of the funny and endearing moments, the video won’t. It will always be there.
I have been with my wife For almost 12 years. on my wedding day, we had one photographer and two wedding videographers in Sedona. It was money so well spent. When we are old and some of those memories have faded, we will have hours a videos to remind us of all the love that was shared with our friends and family on that day. There is no price tag that could be put on the value of those memories captured on video.
